An Advocate for Underrepresented Communities 〰️
My earliest opportunity of running social media and developing publicity began when I was hired as the Media Aide for Missouri State Multicultural Programs. In this role, I created graphics for events that the Multicultural Resource Center put on that was distributed to a campus of 20,000 students through offline and online advertising. These events all started discourse around important social issues, such as the mental health stigma surrounding the Black Community to panels that were hosted by Asian American and Pacific Islanders that discussed the model minority myth and how we can be proactive in our advocacy. I also composed articles that gave oversight on each heritage month that allowed for individuals to become further educated as to why we celebrate heritage months in the first place. Even though my contract was cut short due to COVID, we saw an increase in followers by 63% and increased traction into our events by 22% for the 2019-2020 academic year.
